Our History: 30 Years of Excellence in Interior Design
Established in 1987, MBID International Inc. is North Carolina’s only interior design firm specializing in both luxury boutique hotel design and custom residential design. Our 30 years of experience working with these two distinct areas of design has allowed us to develop a unique expertise in designing interiors that are luxurious, dynamic, exclusive, and prominent, while still offering atmospheres that are accommodating, welcoming, and inviting.
Our founder, Madge Megliola ASID is a professional designer with over 30 years’ experience in the trade. Madge’s projects include numerous high-end residences and boutique hotels. In 2010, Madge began the process of passing on the baton of ownership and day-to-day running of the business to focus more of her time on challenging design projects and international consultation. She has served as American design consultant for several companies in China where she has traveled extensively. She continues to enjoy teaching, speaking, and designing in China and is still available by request to consult on local US projects with MBID clients.
Mary Elizabeth Beal is the owner and principle designer of MBID International. Since joining the firm in 2010, Mary Elizabeth helped Madge Megliola to grow the business from a longstanding, well-respected residential firm into the leading luxury and boutique hotel and residential interior design firm in the state of North Carolina. Her design projects range from quaint Florida bungalows with sweeping canal views to 5 Star mountain/ski retreats in Colorado, to showroom/retail/ and hotel and restaurant projects in San Francisco, Dallas, Las Vegas, and numerous cities across her home state of North Carolina. Her 15+ years of interior design experience includes projects enjoyed by celebrities, professional athletes, government officials, and owners of fortune 500 companies.
MBID client projects have won numerous awards and several projects have been featured on television and in print and online publications including The View, Vogue, Conde Nast Traveler, US News & World Report, Country Living, Southern Living, The New York Post, Bridge for Design, Sina (major Chinese news network), and in numerous international publications of Better Homes & Gardens.
